Flight Instructor, FI(A)

Anyone who wants to inspire others to take up the wonderful hobby of flying, pass on their experience, and give flying lessons needs a license to do so: a teaching license. The conscientious training of prospective flight instructors has always been important to us, as this lays the foundation for generations of future pilots. During this training, we will deliberately take you to the limits so that you can recognize potential dangers in good time and take appropriate action. Among other things, we have an Extra 300 aerobatic aircraft at our disposal, which we can use to safely demonstrate flight conditions such as spinning.

FI training is possible with us even without CPL knowledge. However, without proof of commercial pilot knowledge, the teaching license is limited to LAPL training. This restriction does not apply if you have proven to the authorities that you have CPL knowledge. Proof is provided by presenting a CPL/ATPL or a passed EASA CPL theory exam.

Theory courses FI-A

The theoretical training must comprise a total of at least 125 hours. Of these, 25 hours are devoted to methodology and didactics in flight training. Our experienced lecturers, some of whom work for ESA and teach similar content in the astronaut training program, will show you how to plan lessons in a structured way, convey content confidently, and inspire your audience. In the remaining 100 hours, we focus on the basic knowledge that must be taught to prospective pilots.

Practical training FI-A

The practical training lasts at least 30 hours, of which 25 hours must be flown with a flight instructor. Prospective flight instructor candidates can fly together for 5 hours.
