VFR Night

The night rating is an extension of the private pilot license. Without the night rating, your PPL is valid from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. With the night rating, this restriction no longer applies and you can use your license 24 hours a day. Flying at night is a fantastic experience. And you don’t need the complex instrument rating, you can also fly according to visual flight rules.

The night rating is mandatory for CPL or ATPL holders.

Theory courses VFR night

In order to exercise the privileges associated with an LAPL or PPL for aeroplanes under VFR conditions at night, applicants must have completed a training course at a DTO or ATO within a period of up to 6 months.

Due to high demand, we offer regular courses during the 2022/2023 winter semester, which are coordinated with the participants. Please contact us for more information.

We also offer optional one-on-one lessons. This allows us to tailor the lessons to your specific needs.

We charge a €200 administrative fee for the theoretical training.

Practical course VFR Night

The practical training for the night flight rating comprises at least 5 flight hours, which are usually flown on one of our aircraft by arrangement. However, under certain conditions, it is also possible to use your own aircraft or, for example, a club aircraft for this purpose.

The minimum of 5 hours of night flying consists of at least 3 hours of training with an instructor, including at least one hour of cross-country navigation with at least one cross-country flight of at least 50 km (27 NM) with an instructor, as well as 5 solo takeoffs and 5 solo landings to a complete stop.

If you have already completed theoretical training for night flying, we can provide individual practical training.
